Personal Branding Myth: Fake It till You Make It!

Aug 27, 2019

Have you heard the expression "Fake It till You Make It"? I personally believe that: Yes, you need to believe in yourself, and you need to see yourself in your mind as a successful person, even before you actually reach your goals. I get that.

But on the other hand I personally don't think people should be projecting a fake image to their target audience. Personal Branding is all about Authenticity and being true to who you are! Why is that important? Because if you make false promises that you can't deliver on or if you project a fake image to your target audience, people will eventually find out. The Moon will out! And if you're in it for the long run, it’s always better to be true to who you are, and to make promises that you can deliver.

How can you do that? It's all about self-awareness! Know yourself to grow yourself. So, the FIRST part is actually getting to know yourself better. What your true strengths are, what your passion is, what your vision and mission are, and when you clarify that for yourself, then the SECOND part is to communicate that to your target audience, and expressing the true value that you can bring to your audience to solve their problems and help them achieve their goals.
