Guest Experts

Dr. Gina Parvaneh Cody 

Dr. Cody was the first woman awarded a PhD in building engineering at Concordia. Dr. Cody has more than 30 years of professional practice in the private sector as a professional engineer, corporate executive and principal shareholder of an engineering firm. Dr. Cody is a recipient of the Award of Merit by the Canadian Standards Association, was awarded the Order of Montreal in 2019, was named one of the Top 25 Women of Influence in Canada in 2020, and one of Canada’s Top Women Entrepreneurs in 2010 by Profit Magazine. In December 2020, she was appointed Member of the Order of Canada. In 2021 she was named the Honorary Lieutenant-Colonel of the 34th Combat Engineer Regiment of the Canadian Armed Forces.

In 2018, Dr. Cody made an historic $15 million gift to Concordia University's Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science. In honour of her professional accomplishments and her generosity, the faculty was renamed the Gina Cody School of Engineering and Computer Science. It is the first engineering faculty in Canada, and one of the first internationally, named after a woman.


Dr. Farzad Rayegani, P.Eng., FEC

Senior Dean, Faculty of Applied Sciences & Technology

Dr. Rayegani has a wealth of experience in the fields of teaching, research, innovation and development.  His career in higher education spans more than 20 years and includes time as a faculty member, researcher, manager, director and associate dean.  He holds a Master of Science in Engineering and a Doctor of Philosophy in Mechanical Engineering Systems from the University of Miskolc in Hungary.

Dr. Rayegani is credited with encouraging interdisciplinary teams of faculty, students, industry and community partners to collaborate and develop applied research programs and project-based learning activities that solve complex and real-world problems. As a professional engineer, Dr. Rayegani is committed to the engineering field and higher education while continuing to develop curriculum based on a new engineering education philosophy.  

Under Dr. Rayegani’s leadership, Humber FAST launched three new engineering degrees fall, 2021: Information Systems Engineering, Mechatronics and The Built Environment. 

The recipient of numerous leadership awards, Dr. Rayegani was awarded the Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO) 20-year Volunteer Service Recognition for his dedication to the engineering profession.  He is also designated an Engineers Canada Fellow by Engineers Canada, a prestigious award presented in recognition of exceptional contributions to the engineering profession in Canada.


 Zen Tharani

CEO and Founder, Xenex Consulting Inc.

Zen is a Digital Health professional with 22 years of experience in the social services sector across Canada and internationally. He is the recipient of the prestigious Top 25 Canadian Immigrant Award. 

Zen is the Founder and CEO of Xenex Consulting Inc., a boutique digital health consulting company providing bespoke management consulting services to clients in Canada and abroad. Zen was recently elected to the board of Digital Health Canada, where he will contribute to and influence the development and advancement of the Canadian digital health industry.  In addition to scaling up his consulting work, Zen is working on a couple of digital health start up projects that scheduled to be unveiled in 2022.

Zen’s life is guided by his passion to give back and help those around him grow and reach their potential.  Through his lived experiences of being a person of colour and an immigrant, he understandwhat it takes to create a space that encourages belonging. Since moving to Canada volunteerism has been a pivotal thread guiding Zen’s identity and belonging as a Canadian.  As a volunteer, he has led numerous organizations where he has played a significant role in transforming organizations and engaging the community. Currently, Zen is serving as the National Chair and Project Director for Aga Khan Foundation Canada’s annual World Partnership Walk campaign, which engages 40,000 Canadians yearly to raise funds to fight global poverty by mobilizing Canadian values.  

Réjeanne Aimey, P.Eng., MBA

Réjeanne Aimey is a strong and empathetic leader — a licensed Professional Engineer and a not-for-profit board director. She is skilled in design integration, manufacturing, project engineering, root cause analysis, and management. An innovator, mindful thought leader, and avid learner, she is a strong advocate of STE(A)M, inclusivity, and demonstrating how people can contribute to economic prosperity and a better society for all.


Boris Tsimerinov

Boris Tsimerinov leads Semper8 Capital, a growing firm focused on mergers and acquisitions and investments; works on building healthcare start-ups at Semper8 Health; and, is launching Semper8 Media, with a proprietary library of 80+ film/TV concepts, some of which have generated interest in Hollywood. A digital platform for psychological wellbeing is also being explored.

Tsimerinov is a graduate of Rotman Commerce, a CFA Charterholder, an alumnus of Harvard Business School (HBS) and attained a master of laws from the University of Toronto. He often speaks and lectures at universities and conferences around the world.

Tsimerinov has actively contributed to the Canadian cultural scene in non-profit-organizations’ board or committee roles. Additionally, he is currently the President of the HBS Club of Toronto; received the University of Toronto Arbor Award for outstanding volunteer service; and, is a 2021 Top 25 Canadian Immigrant Awards recipient.
